Calitzdorp Station

With vines to one side and a kranz to the other, Calitzdorp Station offers the traveler an idyllic space to rest, and then venture forth to explore the surrounding area. With campsites with electricity and water, a space for backpackers, safari tents with beds and white linen, modern ablution facilities, a campers/backpackers kitchen, meals on request, and an opportunity to sleep over in a quaint, original railway house, the Station offers accommodation to suit all pockets.

Accommodation: 

Camping/caravan sites, with power points, water and braai spots.

Cost: R60 pppn, power availability R25/day, U12’s R30 pppn (Own tent) R90 pppn
(tent, mattress, bedding supplied), U12’s R70 pppn

Backpackers
Building for four - bedding supplied if necessary. R80 pppn, U12’s R50 pppn

Safari tents with beds and white linen.  R120 pppn

Guest room in authentic Railway House sharing supper and breakfast with hosts. R240 pppn

Functions venue - Large hall, beautiful ticket office with kitchen, and under-vine seating. Cost: Price depending on function

Modern ablutions with hot showers; food preparation area with fridge and gas cooker; supper/breakfast and Nespresso coffee on request.

Activities: 

• Visit the world renown Cango Caves, and Ostrich farms in Oudtshoorn
• visit the many artists and crafters found in and around Calitzdorp
• The area boasts some of the most amazing scenery - travel Seweweekspoort, Meiringspoort, the Swartberg Pass, the Groenfontein Road by car or bike
• Sample the outstanding Port Wine at the number of cellars in the area. If you are able, plan now to attend the 2012 Calitzdorp Port Wine Festival.
• Walk the veld with a local guide, learning about the local flora. Pay a visit to the Gamka Mountain Nature Reserve to learn about the drive to protect the Cape Leopard
• Just chill! Let time pass as you enjoy the beauty and silence of the Klein Karoo.

Directions

On entering Calitzdorp, follow De Kranz Cellar signs to reach Calitzdorp Station. The entrance to the Station is just before you reach De Kranz Cellars.
