The Old Thatch Lodge & Guest house invites on a historic National Monument and welcome you to stay in our comfortable accommodations. Have a rest in our wonderful native garden, and visit the Overberg region and Swellendam, third oldest town in South Africa. Experience the other side of South Africa visit the Western Cape.

The Guest house in Cape Victorian Style, was the townhouse of Mr. Reitz, a gouvernor in the early ages of 1900. Family Reitz lived actuality on a farm in the Overberg region. They visited the town on church days,and stayed for a few days at The Old Thatch Lodge. That was long ago, but still today the atmosphaere in and around the Guest house is like in the old days.

So enjoy your stay in our beautiful accommodations and relax at our lounge with open fireplace. Your breakfast will be served inside the guest house lounge or outside on the green terrace under the thatch roof.

Your car can be parked secure on guest house parking yard. You can even cook your own meal in our guest house kitchen, or have a nice braai(BBQ) in our green garden.

The Guest house team would go with you on a hiking trip in the Marloth Nature Reserve, or visit the Breede River Valley for wine tasting. Enjoy a nice swim in the Indian Ocean in the De Hoop Nature Reserve or explore the beautiful waters on the Buffeljagdsdam and have a nice braai on the boat.
