Stillbay River Lodge

Stillbay River Lodge is a charming, thatched Bed & Breakfast hotel in Cape Dutch style with 10 fancyfully decorated rooms.

The Lodge is operated by a young German-South African couple. It is perfectly situated on a huge nature property reaching right to the shore of scenic Goukou River.On the opposite side of the river there is Stillbay, one of the most attractive tourist resorts on the famous South African Whale Coast between Cape Town and Mossel Bay.

Wonderful sweeping Lappiesbaai beach begins only 1,5 km coastwards at the river mouth. We do speak English, Afrikaans and German and will endeavour whatever we can to make your stay a memorable one.

Still Bay River Lodge is a gracious thatched bed & breakfast guesthouse in lovely Cape Dutch style depicting a bygone era. It is situated 1.5 km upstream from perfect Lappiesbaai beach just opposite the seaside resort of Stillbay - one of the Whale Coast’s most sought after destinations. Still Bay River Lodge is a traditional homestead that has been modernised and extended as a bed & breakfast guesthouse. Stuart and Jenny who currently run Still Bay River Lodge are experienced hosts who offer a warm welcome and ensure that you enjoy your stay in quiet and comfortable surroundings.

50 m from the lodge you will find the “Stables” Restaurant, which offers typical South African cuisine at fair prices and is frequented by Stillbay residents who enjoy the special atmosphere of the Stables. It is the right place for your dinner if you had an eventful day and prefer to eat near the guesthouse.

There are several other good restaurants in town and the Lappies Bay Restaurant, situated on the beachfront offers a magnificent view of the bay.

If you prefer to eat at the River Lodge, a simple 3 course meal is available for guests on request. Requests for dinner must be made by 10:00 am.

The lodge offers 9 beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms with bath or shower. Highly appreciated by many guests is our spacious honeymoon suite with private patio. The suite is also suitable for people with disabilities or who cannot manage the stairs. All rooms boast spectacular views of the river and the surrounding coastal countryside.

Breakfast is served in the very pleasant Milkwood dining room.

The Lodge also offers a pleasant lounge, pub area, a library and outdoor seating where guests can enjoy the sun and scenery.

Directions to Stillbay River Lodge

Coming from Cape Town take the N2 to Somerset West and Mossel Bay (Garden Route), pass Somerset West, Caledon, Riviersonderend, Swellendam, Heidelberg and Riversdale onto the branch-off to Stillbay (Stilbaai), turn right on to R305, direction Stillbay (Stilbaai) and follow the road.

After app. 26 km on the R305 you will see the Goukou River and Stillbay, app. 600 m before the bridge into Stillbay town turn left,
a small road leads you to the Stillbay River Lodge, which lays slightly uphill the mainroad.
