Bergplaats Game Lodge

Bergplaats Game Lodge is situated on 9 000ha of private land on the plains of the Karoo just 60km outside the town of Beaufort West. Set against a mountain backdrop, the farm supports a huge diversity of more than 1 000 plant varieties from South Africa’s various biomes - the distinct ecological communities of plants in a particular climatic area. Animals abound, and there are more than 50 mammal species, over 300 bird species and numerous reptiles and amphibians in this healthy, malaria-free area.

Bergplaats serves as a private safari destination for both local and international visitors and it is also a tranquil retreat for those needing to escape the stresses of city life. We offer Self Catering, Bed & Breakfast & Fully Catered accommodation & can accommodate a maximum of 26 guests.

The farm offers accommodation in a fully furnished and equipped four-bedroom farmhouse, Gemsbok Lodge, which can accommodate up to 14 people. The house is connected to a bar and lapa.

For the more private clients, there is the exclusive & private Guest Suite @ Gemsbok Lodge. The Private Suite offers 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, private kitchen & lounge. The Suite offers accommodation for 6 people. The large lounge opens up onto a private patio & has its own jetmaster fireplace.

Those who want to spend a quiet time communing with God and nature can retreat to a rustic mountain lodge, God’s Window, set in tranquil surroundings. The lodge has no electricity, distinguishing it as an environment of complete simplicity and calm. God’s Window can accomadate 6 people.

For game hunters at Bergplaats, the farm is equipped with its own meat preparation facilities, where hunters can take a hand in processing their own kill.

Bergplaats can be accessed by 4X4 or road vehicles, quad bikes, mountain bikes and even on horseback. The estate offers various hiking and 4×4 trails and quad bike tracks. Depending on the visitors’ needs, hunting, bird-watching and photographic safaris are arranged.

At night, you will simply never see a more spectacular sight than when you look up at the canopy of stars over Bergplaats. This is a place where you are humbled and reminded of the wonder and diversity of God’s creation.

Rooms:

Gemsbok Lodge ( 4 Rooms, 2 en-suite ) - King Size Bed or single bed (additional beds available for children), ceiling fans, some rooms with air-conditioning, mini bar fridge, tea & coffee in rooms, private safe & wireless internet throughout the lodge.

Private guest suite ( 1 ) - 2 rooms, private kitchen, 1 private bathroom, large private lounge & dining area, private patio, wireless internet.

God’s Window Mountain Lodge (1) - Very secluded & tranquil setting in the mountains. Only accessible with 4 x 4 (transport available on the farm) 2 bedrooms , accommodating up to 7 people, 1 double beds and 2 double bunks plus additional single bed. NO ELECTRICITY!!! Battery operated lights, warm water geyser, small bar, shower, bathroom, kitchenette, indoor fireplace, outdoor braai & a patio with the guaranteed best view of the Central Karoo. We will also guarantee you won’t have a better stargazing experience in where else in the world (with the naked eye) !!!
