Gansbaai (Shark Diving)
The great white shark has been protected in South Africa since 1990 and Gansbaai is the best place to see them.
Shark cage diving operators concentrate their efforts around the nature reserves of Dyer and Geyser Islands, about 6 nautical miles (11 km) offshore. These excursions are more than just thrill-seeking joyrides: they are educational experiences that serve to educate the public about white sharks.
